13. How to manage Weblinks in Joomla

This tutorial assumes you are already logged into your Joomla admin panel

1) Let's start by selecting the Components menu option

2) Then down to Weblinks and across to Categories

We will create a new Category for our Weblink

3) Click the New button

4) Click in the Title field to select and enter a title for this Category

5) Scroll down and select the text area for the Description field

6) Scroll up and click on the Save & Close button

Now click on Web Links and we will create our Web Link for our new Category

7) Click on the New button

8) Click in the Title field and enter a title for this Web link

9) Next click in the URL field and enter the URL for this web link. If you do not start your link with http:// Joomla will add it for you

10) Select a Category for this link from the Category dropdown field

11) Scroll down and click in the text area for the Description field. Enter a description for this link here

12) Scroll up and click the Save & Close button

Now let's create a top menu item for our previously created Web Link

13) Select the Menus option

14) Then down to Top and across to Add New Menu Item

15) First we need to select a Menu Item Type

16) Click on the Select button

17) Select the Menu Item Type for this menu item by clicking on it

18) Select a Category for the Menu Item Type we just selected

19) Click in the Menu Title field and enter a menu title. This is the text that is displayed in the website menu

20) Enter any other optional settings as needed

21) Click on the Save & Close button

Now let's view our menu item to our new Web Link

22) Click the View Site link

Here we can see the link we created to our new Web Link

23) Click the link to view the listing for our Web Link
